Frequently Asked Questions

What is an eSIM?
An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM card built into your phone. Instead of inserting a plastic SIM card, you download a carrier profile by scanning a QR code. You can store multiple eSIM profiles on your phone and switch between them in Settings.
Which phones support eSIM?
Most modern smartphones support eSIM including iPhone XS/XR and all newer models (iPhone 14 US models are eSIM-only), Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, and most flagship Android phones from 2020 onwards. Check your phone's Settings → Cellular to confirm.
Does my phone need to be unlocked?
Yes. If your phone was purchased on a carrier contract (e.g. AT&T, O2, Vodafone), it may be carrier-locked. Contact your carrier to unlock it before your trip. Most carriers do this for free after 12 months of service.
How long does eSIM activation take?
The QR code is delivered by email within minutes of purchase. Installation takes under two minutes on a stable Wi-Fi connection. We recommend installing at home before your trip, not at the airport.
Can I keep my home SIM while using a travel eSIM?
Yes. Most modern phones support dual-SIM (one physical SIM + one eSIM). You can keep your home SIM active for calls and texts while using the travel eSIM for data. In Settings, set your home SIM as 'Primary' and the travel eSIM as your data line.
What happens if I run out of data?
You can purchase additional data or a new plan at any time. Log into your Limitflex account to top up, or purchase a new eSIM profile for your destination.
Are there any hidden fees or roaming charges?
No. The price you see is the price you pay. There are no roaming charges, no overages, and no monthly contracts. Data usage is capped at your plan limit — you won't receive a surprise bill.
Can I use eSIM for phone calls?
Limitflex travel eSIMs are data-only plans. To make calls, use VoIP apps (WhatsApp, FaceTime, Skype) over your data connection, or keep your home SIM active for traditional calls.
